Sabita Carbon Tool Download

This is an updated version of the Sabita Carbon Tool (Version 2.3). We have added some dynamic functionality relating to the Electricity Emission Factor (the National Generation Grid Emission Factor), so that when a user selects a calendar year, the most relevant Electricity Emission Factor is automatically chosen.

The National Generation Grid Emission Factor comes from the "South Africa's Grid Emission Factors Report". These are annual reports that are published one to two years after the year they relate to. For example, the 2023 Report was published in August 2025.

We believe these changes will improve the usefulness and accuracy of the Sabita Carbon Tool.

The tool is intended to assist with calculating annual carbon footprints and completing the associated carbon tax emissions forms pertaining to stationary and non-stationary emissions. Use of the tool is entirely at the user’s own risk, and it is the user’s responsibility to verify all emission factors, inputs, assumptions, calculations and outputs.
