Introducing the Sabita Carbon Tool
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, Sabita is proud to make the Sabita Carbon Tool available to the wider bitumen and asphalt industry. This user-friendly tool is designed to help organisations quantify the carbon footprint of their products and processes, supporting more informed decision-making and progress toward industry-wide environmental goals. Whether you’re just beginning your sustainability journey or looking to refine your carbon reporting, the Sabita Carbon Tool offers a practical starting point.
Version 2.3 is now available. We have added some dynamic functionality relating to the Electricity Emission Factor (the National Generation Grid Emission Factor), so that when a user selects a calendar year, the most relevant Electricity Emission Factor is automatically chosen.
The National Generation Grid Emission Factor comes from the “South Africa’s Grid Emission Factors Report”. These are annual reports that are published one to two years after the year they relate to. For example, the 2023 Report was published in August 2025.
We believe these changes will improve the usefulness and accuracy of the Sabita Carbon Tool.
